How to Choose the Best Car for Your Business Fleet

Running a business fleet can not only be a lot of work but also costly if it isn’t run in the right way. Although you may have originally been thinking of alternatives for a fleet, there are times when your employees need to use a car to visit particular clients or customers.

Choosing the right vehicles for your fleet is also important. You want a car that is reliable, easy to maintain and above all, cost effective. Here are some ideas that you can use to pick the right cars for your fleet.

Start with the Basics

Before you think about cars and where to get them, you need to think about what your fleet is going to be doing. Firstly, start by looking at what your cars will be doing on a day-to-day basis. If they are going to be only used occasionally, then this will affect the type of vehicle you need.

Similarly, if your employees will be carrying a lot of products or tools with them, then you may need to think about larger cars. You also need to consider what your company will be doing in the next few years, are you going to be growing your business, or branching into other areas?

Appearance

It might not seem like the most important thing, however, the way the cars look and your company image is important. You want a car like the Mazda CX-3 which has a classic look and good styling.

You also want to think about the colour as you might want one that fits in with your company branding. As the front face of your company, they need to look smart and professional, so you should avoid certain colours that may look too bright.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel efficiency of your car is an important factor, because they may cover many miles each month. The lower the fuel bill, the more money you will save, but this can involve more than the car model.

It is also important that you keep all the fleet regularly serviced and maintained, otherwise, your fleets fuel efficiency may start to suffer. Although it used to be the case that diesel cars were more efficient, recent developments in petrol engines have closed this gap.

Buy or Lease?

The one big decision you need to make is whether you will be buying your fleet or vehicles, or leasing them from another company. There are pro’s and con’s to both options, although you can save money in the long run by leasing.

If you buy your cars, you will need to think about how long they will stay in service before replacing them. With leasing, they will be routinely replaced every three years or so.

Starting your own fleet of company vehicles is a great way to get your employees out there to meet customers and deal with clients, all you need to do is make sure they are the right vehicles for your company.
